What happened in 1776? America was created partially as a result of a revolution against the horribly unfair political system whereby your worth was measured by how much land you owned. The very basis of our coutry was predicated on the value of the individual, not on their land ownership. Can you imagine our country if we based our current public decisions on how much land you owned?
Well, you don't have to imagine.
Public Act 188 of 1954 is now used by many Michigan municipalities to develop public infrastructure, such as waste water systems. Very expensive systems. This Act has two key provisions:
1) Affected people only have input into the process proportional to how much LAND they own. Seriously. If you own 400 acres, and your neighbor owns 1/2 an acre, you get 800 times the input into the process! No joke.
2) Affected people have NO other input. None. Their input is solely based on how much land they own. Period.
Welcome Back to 1775
This website is dedicated to lobbying Michigan politicians to make meaningful change to PA188, to ensure that INDIVIDUAL people get input, NOT ACREs.
